ETU Shopping Galleries

GALERIILE ETU presents itself as a shopping center that, through architecture, explores the deliberate contrast between two distinct stylistic registers—contemporary minimalism and reinterpreted classical monumentality.

The rear block (west) is defined by a white, massive, impeccably clean volume. The façade is paced by a sequence of arched openings, recessed into the mass, creating a play of light and shadow. This side conveys rigor and simplicity, evoking a minimalist aesthetic where pure form becomes ornament in its own right.

In contrast, the front block on the boulevard (east) reinterprets a more classical, decorative language, with a red-brick façade and large arched windows outlined by slender surrounds. These generous openings reveal a warm, light-filled interior and project a sophisticated image that feels friendly and accessible to the public. Red accents—panels bearing the name “GALERIILE ETU”—add a contemporary, eye-catching note that complements the commercial character of the space.

Between the two blocks, the connection is made by a glass transitional element that brings clarity and transparency. In this way, the architectural intention to set two worlds in counterpoint is highlighted—on the one hand, an abstract, geometric, almost sculptural expression; on the other, a classicizing expression rich in visual detail.

Overall, the building expresses a dialogue between the simple and the sophisticated, between clear monumentality and welcoming openness, offering visitors an architectural experience balanced between the contemporary and the traditional, the rational and the emotional.

The contrast between minimal and decorative, between clarity and sophistication, is thus integrated into a coherent architectural dialogue that fuses the rational with the emotional and offers visitors a diverse, memorable urban experience.

At the level of the plan, the building maintains the same dual logic expressed on the exterior. The minimalist block is organized with generous, lucid spaces, linear circulation, and functions laid out with rigor, in an almost abstract register. In opposition, the brick-faced block hosts open, flexible retail spaces, activated by transparency and by a direct relationship with the exterior. Thus, rigor meets dynamism and conviviality, and the interior faithfully reflects the compositional contrast of the exterior volumes.
